Most of the blocks in Bhartpur district were facing the problem of salty water : Ashok Gehlot
INVC, Jaipur, Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot dedicated to the public the first phase of the ambitious Chambal, Bharatpur and Dholpur Drinking Water Project on Friday in Bharatpur. Shri Gehlot also laid foundation stone for Chambal Drinking Water pipe line project. The Chief Minister on this occasion said most of the blocks in Bhartpur district were facing the problem of salty water and keeping in view this problem he had laid foundation stone for Chambal Drinking Water Project for Bhartpur-Dholpur in the year 1999 but due to court procedures this scheme could not move forward. He said keeping in view the problem of salty water in Bharatpur district the State Government made collective efforts for speedy execution of this project and due to this most of the parts of Bharatpur city and Keoladeo Park are getting sweet water of Chambal. Shri Gehlot said the work of laying Chambal pipe line worth Rs. 150 crore has been taken up and it will benefit 133 villages. Rs. 580 crore have been spent on the project till now and for water supply in Deeg, Kaman, Nagar, Kumher and Sikri areas Rs. 320 crore more will be spent, he added. He said to establish sports complex in the district a detailed project of Rs. 2 crore has been prepared. PHED Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said Chambal Porject is a big boon for the Bharatpur district. Dang Development Board Chairman Dr. Satyanarayan Singh, Livestock Development Board Chairman Shri Brijendra Singh Supa, Jila Pramukh Smt. Leelawati and other public representatives were present on this occasion.The Chief Minister also took stock of the reservoir and filter plant on Malah headworks and took detailed information about the Project.
