Monsoon further advances into Rajasthan, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Sikkim

Murtaza kidwai New Delhi.The southwest monsoon has further advanced today, the 29th June, 2009 into remaining parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Orissa and west Bengal & Sikkim, entire Bihar, Jharkhand, many parts of east Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand and some parts of east Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh. The northern limit of southwest monsoon now passes through (Lat. 25.0°N / Long. 60.0°E and Lat. 25.0°N / Long. 65.0°E), Udaipur, Jaipur, Dholpur, Etawah, Lucknow, Kheri, Dehradun and Uttarkashi. This indicates that conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon over some more parts of Rajasthan, remaining parts of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and entire Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir during next 1-2 days. According to the India Meteorological Department, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over west coast, northeastern states, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, west Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh during next 48 hours
