Mizoram International Short Film Festival Culminates amidst Grandeur
Mizoram is sure exuding magnetism and is fast turning into a destination with opportunities galore. The hill state located in the extreme eastern corner of NE India has a plethora of offerings. Not only does it have colorful festivals and deft dances, fabulous species of flora and fauna, breathtaking natural beauty and a pleasant climate all-round the year, Mizoram is now turning into a magnet for talented independent filmmakers from across the globe who are always on the lookout for new and unexplored destinations for shooting and showcasing their films.

The Mizoram International Short Film Festival MISFF 2018 culminated with a grand closing ceremony at the iconic Aijal Club in Aizawl. H.E. The Governor of Mizoram was the chief guest and gave away the awards to the winners of the 03-day International Short Film Festival which was the first of its kind in Mizoram.
Addressing the audiences, The Honorable Governor Sh. Sh. Kummanam Rajasekharan said, “Mizoram is a naturally green state and has a hilly terrain with a pleasant climate. The continuous mountain ranges and spectacular water bodies make it an ideal destination for Film production and Film Festivals like MISFF 2018 will certainly provide the much needed impetus to the talented film makers of Mizoram to showcase their craft to the world and also help them to interact with the national and international film makers.”
MISFF 2018 received 82 brilliant short film from across the globe and the jury had a herculean task at hand to select the winners. The Jury of MISFF 2018 comprised of Internationally Acclaimed Bollywood superstar Gulshan Grover, National Award Winning Filmmaker Umesh Shukla, Renowned actor cum script writer Puja Ballutia and the Curator of MISFF 2018 Captain Rahul Bali.
“MY ANGEL” directed by Albert Zosangliama was adjudged the best short film in Mizo Category and won the Golden Anthurium Award while “PASALTHA” by Lalawmpuia Khiangte & “BEISINA” by Lalramengmawii won the Silver Anthurium Award and Bronze Anthurium Awards for the second Best Short Film and Third Best Short Film respectively.
“FORBIDDEN” a short film by Vibha Gulati won the Critics’ Choice Award for the Best International Film in the Path breaking New Age Cinema Category. Written, directed and produced by Vibha Gulati under her banner Ruhaniyat Films in Association with Women's Voices Now and Everclear Films, “Forbidden" is a short dramatic thriller inspired by a true honour killing of a south Asian American Woman. The film has been screened at some of the major international short film festivals across the globe and also won the "Best Film Award" at the Festival of Globe in San Francisco, California in August 2018.
“Mizoram is getting ready to welcome the national and global film makers to kick start their film projects in Mizoram with a definite advantage to gain an entirely new audience base and an excellent opportunity to showcase their films in Mizoram. MISFF 2018 has been a very successful attempt to bridge the gap between the independent film makers and Mizoram. The Festival has been largely instrumental in promoting Mizoram as one of the preferred destinations for Film Making among the International Film Makers.” Said Captain Rahul Bali, Managing Director Innovations India and the Curator of Mizoram International Short Film Festival.
