The marathon was organized with an objective to sensitize people about cancer and the stigmas associated with the disease. The Marathon witnessed participation from around 2000 people including students from not only PU, but also from other schools and colleges across the Tri-city. Flagged off from Gandhi Bhavan, PU 6.30 in morning, SciTrack Marathon covered a distance of 9.5 km inside the PU campus. Being the medical partner of the marathon, Max Healthcare provided ambulatory and medical assistance to the participants. Well-equipped ambulances and trained para-medical staff were stationed along the entire route to cater to the medical needs of the runners at the event and give first aid to the injured ones. Max Healthcare also provided other on ground field services for the runners. Speaking at the occasions , Dr. Ashutosh Sood, General Manager, Operations, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mohali said, Punjab was considered to be the cancer Belt of India. More than 70% of the cases were reported for diagnostic and treatment services in the advanced stages of the disease, which has led to poor survival and high mortality rate. Concerned with such alarming facts about cancer in the Tri-city, we, at Max Healthcare highly appreciated such an initiative like SciTrack Marathon aimed at creating awareness amongst people about Cancer care, early detection and prevention. We were proud to be associated with such a noble cause. We believe that it was imperative that residents of Tri-city were aware of the problems and the hard facts associated with the disease, asserted Dr Sood. He further added that Max Healthcare places tremendous emphasis upon prevention and wellness and thus supporting this marathon was in complete alignment with our value system. Health and safety of all runners and spectators at the marathon was our highest priority.
