M.I.T will Research to make police public-oriented

Massachusetts-Institute-of-INVC NEWS Bhopal, A Memorandum of Understanding was signed today at the CM House in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan between Madhya Pradesh Police and one of the bet universities of the world -the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T). The Institute will conduct research work to make the state police more public-oriented. Director General of Police Shri Rishi Kumar Shukla and Shri Abdul Latif Jameel of Massachusetts Institute of Technology Research Institute, South Asian Head of Garibi Unmoolan Action Lab Sushri Shobhni Mukherji signed the MoU. Police officers, professors and researchers of the institute were present on the occasion. CM Shri Chouhan said that constant efforts are being made to make community policing more effective in the state. A public hearing was started in the year 2009 in this direction. A provision of 30 per cent reservation in the police force has been made to empower women in the state. The Chief Minister expressed happiness on the MoU with the Institute. He said that the research work should be fair and conclusive. The conclusions of the study should help in improving and strengthening police system. Director General of Police Shri Rishi Kumar Shukla told that the research work criteria will focus on dialogue between the public and police, police reaction-process and incorporation of women in police force. Additional Chief Secretary Home Shri K.K. Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Shri Ashok Bernawal, Additional Director General of Police Shri Rajiv Tandon and Smt. Anuradha Shankar Singh, Professor Virginia University Shri Sandeep Suthankar, Professor Harvard University Shri Akshay Mangla, Professor Vizner Virginia Sushri Gabriela Crooks, Project Officer J.P.A. Lab South Asia Shri Vishnu Padmanabhan, Research Assistant Shri Anshuman Bhargav were present on the occasion.
