Keeping in view the present security scenario in the region and recent terrorist incidents in Punjab, a detailed discussion was held and it was emphasized to share the information on this front at UT Police Headquarters, Sector 9, Chandigarh, which was attended by Deputy Director, Intelligence Bureau, DIG Counter Intelligence, Punjab, SSP, UT, SP,Security and Traffic, UT, SP, Operations, UT, SP, Panchkula, SSP, Mohali, ASP, Ropar and one representative from Ambala, Solan, Baddi, Patiala and GRP, Ambala. All SDPOs, DSP, Crime, DSP, Communication and PCR and I/C crime branch of Chandigarh police also attended the meeting.
The long inter-district co-ordination meeting was held , wherein
issues like crime, criminals and their modus operandi related to property crime like snatching, burglaries and MV thefts was, undetected heinous cases, crime trend, active gangs were also discussed.
During meeting list of criminals and proclaimed offenders were exchanged. It was emphasized for conducting regular mock drills, verification of information sheets, sharing of information of daily released criminals from jails, and joint naka/search operations in the tri-city. Issues of inter state ramification like smuggling of liquor, sale of prohibited drugs at chemist shops and difference of closing of business of liquor vends at border wrer too discussed.
During meeting experiences and challenges of policing were also shared by the senior officers including IGP/UT, Dy. Director/IB, DIG/Counter Intelligence, Punjab.
