The CBI Court, Panchkula(Haryana) has today sentenced S/Shri Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, then Head of Dera Sacha Sauda, Sirsa to undergo Life Imprisonment with fine of Rs.31 Lakh; Krishan Lal to undergo Life Imprisonment with fine of Rs.1.25 Lakh; Sabdil Singh to undergo Life Imprisonment with fine of Rs.1.50 Lakh; Jasbir Singh to undergo Life Imprisonment with fine of Rs.1.25 Lakh & Avtar Singh to undergo Life Imprisonment with fine of Rs.75,000/- in a case related to murder of Shri Ranjit Singh, resident of Village Khanpur Kolian, Kurukshetra(Haryana).
CBI had registered the said case on the orders dated 10.11.2003 passed by the Hon’ble High Court of Punjab & Haryana passed in Crl. Misc. Nos. 26994-M of 2002, 7931-M of 2003 & 24874-M of 2003 and taken over the investigation of the case earlier registered vide FIR No. 312/2002 at Police Station Sadar, Thanesar (Kurukshetra). It was alleged that Shri Ranjit Singh resident of Village Khanpur Kolian,Kurukshetra was murdered on 10.7.2002 when he was working in his fields at village Khanpur Kolian, District Kurukshetra(Haryana).
After thorough investigation, CBI filed a charge-sheet on 30.07.2007 against 6 accused and charges were framed on 12.12.2008. During the pendency of trial, one accused expired on 08.10.2020 and trial proceedings were abated against him.
The Competent Court at Panchkula(Haryana) had held the said accused guilty and convicted them on 08.10.2021.
