An emergent  meeting of Chandigarh Business Council consisting of S/Shri Jagdish Arora, President alongwith Shri Kamaljit Singh Panchhi, Neeraj Bajaj, JPS Kalra, LC Arora, Lucky Sahni, Balbir Singh, Ajay Gupta, Arvinder Singh, BM Kohli, Gulshan Bhatia, Purshotam Singh  etc. was held  today to discuss about another financial burden on Residents of Chandigarh in the shape of Service Tax on leaseheld  properties auctioned after  after 2007.  The members were unhappy about Chandigarh Administrations decision to increase Estate Duty with immediate effect- still another financial liability on public. The members of the opinion that the Chandigarh Administration has earned huge amount of leasehold building in the recent past and instead of putting the burden of Service Tax on to the occupiers, better the UT Administration should himself pay the Service Tax directly to the Department.  This is another act of highhandedness on the part of  Administration that due to lopsided and anti public policies no investor is coming forward which is evident from the fact that last many auctions have gone flop. It is pertinent to mention  that the Traders of Chandigarh have been seeking abolition of Leasehold System but the same has not received attention of the Administration resulting into frustration of owners. There is another setback to the general public as today the Chandigarh Administration  has increased collectorate @ 10% whereby the sellers and buyers will suffer another financial jolt.  We wish to apprise the Administration that Collectorate in Tricity is lesser than Chandigarh. The traders are optimistic and wish that good sense will prevail and the traders will not be forced to come on roads to protest against these unjustified and unbearable actions of the administration.
