Mumbai – : KTM’s plan to introduce a scooter may soon come to fruition, but in an electric form. Recently, a prototype of the KTM electric scooter was spotted undergoing testing in Europe. The photographs reveal that the scooter is still in the early stages of development, with some parts being made using a 3D printer. Although the prototype was partially camouflaged, several design elements are clearly visible. While the overall styling is not as aggressive and sharp as the concept scooter showcased a few years ago, it does incorporate the distinctive KTM design language.

Similar to some electric scooters in India, the battery pack of this KTM scooter is located beneath the floorboard. This placement helps lower the center of gravity, leading to improved handling. The swingarm is made of aluminum, which is a typical approach by KTM. Additionally, there is an aluminum plate attached to the swingarm, possibly used for cooling the electric motor, although it is not visible in the available pictures. Other noticeable features of this electric scooter include a flat single-seat, disc brakes on both ends, alloy wheels, a large windscreen, LED lights, and a prominent digital instrument cluster.

Regarding performance, rumors suggest that this KTM scooter will be powered by an 8kW motor, potentially co-developed with Bajaj. The Bajaj Chetak, another electric scooter, is rumored to utilize the same platform but with a smaller motor. In recent years, both KTM and Bajaj have collaborated on a common electric vehicle platform, aiming to develop their respective products and take advantage of economies of scale. It is expected that KTM will showcase the production-ready model later this year at EICMA, with a planned launch in early 2025. The KTM electric scooter will likely be manufactured by Bajaj at their Chakan plant and subsequently exported worldwide.
