Krishak Sangharsh Samiti demanded action against Bhusan Steel Limited

After completion of all  8 Block Gheraos, i.e. Bhuban, Kamakhyanagar, Kankadahad, Dhenkanal Sadar, Gondia, Hindol, Odapada and Parjang Blocks of Dhenkanal District in Odisha by hundreds of workers of Krishak Sangharsh Samiti led by the emerging Krishak youth leader Engineer Debashisha Hota on 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 14th, 15th and 16th March, today at a Press Conference Mr. Hota announced to organize a Grand Farmers’ agitation on 30th March at Dhenkanal.

Dhenkanal Town and nearby 40 villages will be burnt to ashes within 10 years if the 5 Power Plants will function by the surroundings of Dhenkanal Town. So we’ll not allow these plants to be established and will not hesitate to fight against the district administration on road for our survival, Er. Hota threatened.

Renowned social activist Mr. Kalyanesh Anand demanded free electricity for farmers. Another top activist Mr. Prasant Mishra told the subsidy should be given to the farmers directly rather than the businessmen.

Krishak Sangharsh Samiti demanded action against Bhusan Steel Limited (BSL), BRG Steel, Narveram Steel, TTPS and Rana Sponge for releasing pollutants that affected crops and threatens life & livestock in Nuagan, Sanjapada, Roda, Patarpada, Rentapata, Lodhani, Gundichapada, Parjang, Kandarsinga and Kurunti villages

A Demand Note of 24 demands has been handed over to respective BDOs by the respective block presidents Mr. Patitapaban Nayak, Mr. Pramod Kumar Sethy, Mr. Bhagirathi Baral, Mr Nabakishore Khatua, Mr. Sudhanshu Mohan Nayak, Mr. Kusa Bihari Samal, Mr. Himansu Rout and Sudhanshu Sekhar Satapathy in presence of all karyakartas of the samiti.

The collector should recommend the central and state governments to increase the paddy price to 15 hundred from the coming year with an automatic increase of 30 percent in every year, give a “Krishak Bhatta” of minimum 3 thousand per month to the farmers of above 58 years depending only on agriculture for their survival,  declare full rebate on farmers’ loan due to drought for scarcity in rain and then untimely rain,  insure the farmers’ freely, the demands included.

The collector should give stress on same-day certification of the foundation seeds, transfer the elephants to nearest wild-lives to protect the crops, suspend the officials who do not use moisture machines to establish the moisture percentage during paddy collection, take serious actions against the corrupted officials for whom the real farmers do not get subsidized seeds, fertilizers and agriculture equipments and do boring-wells in every hectare farm land.

All farmer leaders appeal the farmers to attend the forth coming agitation on 30th March in thousand numbers and start their own fighting for survival.
