He told that in Hindu religion it is believed that the new crop is first offered to God or ancestors and by doing so, there is happiness, peace and prosperity in the family throughout the year. This is the reason why ears of wheat or barley are sacrificed in the fire of Holika Dahan. He told that the purpose behind burning seven ears of wheat is that 7 is an auspicious number and that is why there are 7 days in a week and seven rounds in marriage. Therefore, 7 rounds of Holika fire are made and only 7 ears of wheat are offered in it.
