The Southwest Monsoon has reached Sri Lanka after a six-day halt. The IMD said that a close watch is being kept on the progress of Monsoon into Kerala. Normally, the monsoon reaches Kerala on June 1, now it is expected to reach four days earlier.
According to meteorologists, the Southwest Monsoon has gained momentum this month due to Cyclone Asani in the Bay of Bengal. Monsoon had reached the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on May 16, much ahead of time and due to the remaining impact of the cyclone, it was expected to advance further. PLC >
