Taking to the nostalgic journey of a never seen or heard Kashmir, the capital witnessed the unveiling of Kashmir: The Loss of Innocence’, a book by Kiran Narain at Jacranda Hall, India Habitat Center, New Delhi. The book was unveiled by Guest of Honour Dr. Karan Singh, member of the Rajya Sabha. The launch also was marked by the presence of many eminent and renowned personalities like designer Ritu Kumar, Romesh Chopra, Vandana Suri among others.

The event began with an enlightening speech by Kaveree Bamzai which was followed by a panel discussion by Jyotsna Singh, Dr. Karan Singh, Surendra Kulkarni and the visionary Kairan Narain herself which was modereated by Kaveree Bamzai, editor at large India Today group. During course of discussion, author Kiran Nair traced bitter-sweet journey of her childhood. The discussion also emphasized on the events that have blighted the beautiful valley of Kashmir and exodus of Kashmiri pundits from their paradise on earth. The talk was an interactive session which celebrated the memories of attendees from the days gone by in Kashmir. Speakers also highlighted the excerpts of the book that particularly appealed to them.

About the book

Conceptualized by Author Kiran Narain, the book traces the journey of ‘Kohli sisters’ through there major political upheavals- Indian Independence and the Partition of India, the invasion of Kabaili readers in 1947 and finally terrorism in 1990’s that was the cause of family’s final parting from their roots in Delhi, as seen through the ever-curious eyes of their youngest sister, Ginni. The book spans seven decades of their love and longing for Kashmir against the political backdrop of the times.
