This electric vehicle mechanics training has been launched to give employment to the youth

The Kejriwal government has launched Electric Vehicle Mechanics training program to provide employment to the youth in the national capital Delhi. Through this program, youth will be able to take training related to electric vehicle. Along with this, the workforce in the field of electric vehicles will get a boost. Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) will prepare ‘Electric Vehicle Mechanics’ training course for the students of its ‘Diploma in Automobile Engineering’ programme. Every year 100 students will be trained in Basic and Advanced EV Mechanics training. You will also get the opportunity to do internship.
MoU was signed between DSEU, WRI India and Hero Electric Vehicles Limited today. On this occasion DDC Vice-Chairman Jasmin Shah, DSEU Vice Chancellor Prof. Neharika Vohra, DSEU’s Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Rihan Khan Suri, DSEU Registrar Ashwini Kansal, WRI India Ross Center Executive Director Madhav Pai and Hero Electric AVP HR Manu Sharma were also present.

DSEU will undertake the end-to-end design of the curriculum structure and curriculum of the training programme. At the same time, DSEU will be helped by Hero Electric in designing the study material as well as providing practical training and internship opportunities to the students. As a knowledge partner, World Resources Institute India (WRI) will provide the necessary research, monitoring and evaluation support.

DDC Vice President Jasmin Shah said that this is the first of the short and long term courses being launched by the Delhi Government to become a training center for the EV workforce in India. Thousands of jobs will be created in Delhi through this program. This training program will fulfill two major priorities of the Delhi government. First skilled and trained workforce will be created and thousands of people will get employment. Apart from this, CM Arvind Kejriwal’s dream of making Delhi the EV capital of India will be realized. The Delhi government had launched the EV policy in August 2020. Through which also promoting EV. Delhi’s EV policy aims to have 25 per cent of all new vehicle registrations for electric vehicles by 2024. The Delhi government has already achieved an average of 10 per cent target. The upcoming training program being prepared by DSEU will support the multi-faceted and rapidly growing EV ecosystem in Delhi.

Jasmin Shah said that this agreement formally signed today is the result of 8 months of intensive research and hard work of DDC Delhi and WRI India. The lack of highly efficient EV mechanics was addressed through research analysis. Because the need for about 500 new mechanics increases every year. In the field of automotive, people will get employment opportunities in EV technology.

Vice Chancellor of DSEU Prof. Niharika Vohra said that this MoU is a result of the Delhi government’s vision of a tie-up between policy makers, academia and industry to bridge the skill training gap. The EV Mechanics Training Program is a step taken by DSEU to train the youth and provide them employment. The industry should also ensure that they pay the premium for skilled workers, so that it benefits both the youth and the industry.

Manu Sharma, Hero Electric Vehicles Limited said, “The Kejriwal government is working towards making Delhi a global hub for electric mobility. Skill development is very important to achieve this. We at Hero Electric have been waiting for over 15 years for such a commendable training program to be created for EV mechanics. Very satisfied with the efforts being made by the Delhi Government in this area.

Madhav Pai, Executive Director, WRI India Ross Centre, said that this initiative taken by the Delhi Government for the maintenance of electric vehicles is commendable. The training program of skilled mechanics will not only create new employment opportunities for the people, but will also increase the confidence of EV buyers in EVs.
