Condemning horrific murder of Journalist Jogendra Singh of Uttar Pradesh, National Union of Journalists(INDIA) demanded immediate CBI probe of the incident.

In a memorandum submitted to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today NUJ deplored as the fourth pillar of the country is on constant attack.”It is high time that the Government should come forward with Journalist Protection Act and family members of journalist Jogendra Singh be paid with sufficient compensation; said Prasanna Mohanty Secretary General, NUJ(I). Quoting Press Council of India report NUJ memorandum pointed out that as many as 79 of Journalists have been killed in this country since last two and half decades.But in all these cases conviction rate is abysmally low due to influence from different quarters.A separate memorandum has also been submitted to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.This issue will be the focus of the forth coming National Executive Meeting of the union to be held at Varanasi of Uttar Pradesh on 20th and 21st June 2015 NUJ indicated.
