Mr. Satya Pal Jain, Ex-MP and All India Incharge of the Legal and Legislative Cell of the BJP, has once again urged the Union Home Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram to immediately come to Chandigarh, assess the “completely broken” law and order situation in the city and take corrective measures to restore law and order in the city as well as the confidence of the common man in the law enforcing agencies.

Mr. Jain was talking to media persons outside the ‘Tanishq’ Jewellery Shop in Manimajra today, after visiting the shop where ‘Dacoity’ was committed today morning in which property worth crores and crores of rupees was looted in the early hours of the day. He met the owners of the shop & shopkeepers of adjourning areas and expressed his sympathies with them.

Mr. Jain said that maintaining the law and order situation is the responsibility of the concerned state government, and Chandigarh being a Union Territory, it is the Central Government which is the State Government also for Chandigarh. In such a situation, why the Prime Minister, the Home Minister and the other central ministers are just acting as silent spectators to what is happening in Chandigarh, without least bothering about the plight of the common man here. He said that the Congress Government at the Centre has left the people of Chandigarh to the mercy of criminals. Criminals are moving around freely in the city and instead of arresting them, the central ministers are just issuing evasive statements after statements, which is adding salt to the injured feelings of the residents of Chandigarh.

He said that the Central Government, the Prime Minister, the Home Minister and other central ministers are fully responsible for whatever is happening in Chandigarh.
