Haryana Governor Mr Jagannath Pahadia today described books as the treasure house of knowledge and wisdom and said that these are also known as not only best friend of human beings, but also useful source of timely reference, inspiration and guidance.

Mr Pahadia was releasing a book entitled as “Who Runs Police?” written by Mr Hans Raj Swan, former Director General of Police, Haryana at a simple book release function held at Haryana Raj Bhavan here today.

Complimenting the concerted efforts of the writer, the Governor said that Mr. Swan had put in hard work in highlighting various aspects of his life as well as the society and administration. He appreciated that the author had made a special mention of the history of the police and political history of Haryana.

Born in a family  with meager resources in a non descript village of Punjab, the author had to suffer many discriminations. But he did not surrender and faced all  challenges with courage. Thus the book would prove to be a source of inspiration to the youth, especially those hailing from  rural areas.

The Governor hoped that the book would succeed in presenting to the readers a comprehensive account to understand the police dilemma as it is an account of the life of a super cop who experienced various ups and downs during his 30 years of police career. He said that the relentless fight of the author and transparency in work make the book a model for the present police force, bureaucrats, aspiring civil servants and others.

Expressing his gratitude towards the Governor Mr Hans Raj Swan said that he is greatly thankful to the Governor for sparing his valuable time to release his book.
