The Union Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment Shri Mukul Wasnik has said that it is high time that for the growth of NIOH, it has to make more lucrative and promising to attract better qualified professional to run the Institute. He was speaking during the Consultative Meeting on National Institute of Orthopedically Handicapped (NIOH), Kolkata, here today.
A Presentation was made at the Meeting about the various projects, R & D and rehabilitation of handicapped activities of the NIOH, Kolkata.
Participating in the discussion, the Members generally welcomed the various initiatives taken by the Institute and the Ministry for the timely rehabilitation of the orthopedically handicapped persons.
Responding to the Members suggestions, the Minister said that any further suggestions by them, based on in-depth study of the proposed suggestions for the betterment of the Institute, would be considered seriously. He promised to complete the exercise in a comprehensive and expeditious manner, taking all viewpoints into consideration.
The Members who attended the Meeting were : from Lok Sabha – Shri Rudra Madhab Ray , BJD, Orissa; Shri Shakti Mohan Malik , CPI (M), West Bengal and Shri Thangso Baite,INC,Manipur and from Rajya Sabha – Shri Pramod Kureel,BSP,Uttar pradesh .
Shri K.M. Acharya, Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and other Senior officials of the Ministry were also present.
