Washington Expressing happiness over America’s deepening ties with India, US Congressman John Carter said India’s future is “brighter than ever”. I have risen today (in the House) to celebrate the anniversary.

He said India’s commitment to democracy and self-governance over the past decades has been unwavering and its future today is “brighter than ever”.

“I am encouraged by the continued strengthening of the American relationship with India, as it has been for the past 75 years, and proud to call Indians our friends,” he said.

MP Carter said, Parliament passed the Indian Independence Act on August 15, 1947, which officially established India as a sovereign nation after almost 90 years. Marked the creation of the largest democracy, governing a billion strong nation with a population of over one billion. PLC/GT
