India Junior Men Hockey Team ready to face Pakistan in their first match of the 5th Sultan of Johor Cup
INVC NEWS Malaysia , After a month-long intensive training session, a young and confident India Junior Men Hockey Team is ready to face their Asian counterpart Pakistan in their opening match of the 5th Sultan of Johor Cup to be played at in Johor Bahru on 11 October 2015.
The two-time consecutive champions India, aim to give their best show with a victory against Pakistan in the prestigious U-21 invitational tournament. Players like Captain Harjeet Singh and Harmanpreet Singh, who represented the Indian Men Team on the international platform, will motivate their teammates who are participating in a big tournament for the first time. The Indian colts have been practising together for the last one month under the guidance of Coach Harendra Singh and the 18-member team have been developed themselves as a single unit in the training sessions.
As the all important AHF Junior Men’s Asia Cup 2015 is going to be held next month, this tournament will provide the team with ample opportunities to improve the level and skill of implementing strategies on the turf. On the other hand, Pakistan will play as per their reputation of creating the surprise element in the tournament. However, India will have the edge over their arch-rivals as they have beaten Pakistan by a huge margin of 6-0 in 2014 and 4-0 in 2013 during the same tournament. Starting as the tournament favourite, India Junior Team will play hard to repeat their success and start the campaign with huge win.
Speaking ahead of the match against Pakistan, the India Junior Men Team’s Coach Harendra Singh said, “The Junior Men Team is very much excited for the 5th edition of the tournament and well prepared to face any participating team. Everyone in the team is geared-up for the challenge ahead and are looking at an exciting contest against Pakistan tomorrow. We have beaten Pakistan in the past and in both the encounters, our boys outplayed them. The team in the last two editions haveshowed their mettle during crucial moments of the match and their strong mental strength helped the them to win the last two tournaments. But we understand that is the past, we will start the campaign tomorrow with a fresh mind and energy. We are expecting a great match and a positive result in our opening game.”
India Junior Men Team’s Captain Harjeet Singh added, “Playing against Pakistan is always special to us as we play with more zeal against them. We have beaten them earlier, but we are not taking them lightly. They have the nature of surprising the opponents and any silly mistake from our end will put us in trouble. We will play with full force and hold our defence strongly. We have players who have the abilities to win matches. We are ready and looking forward to the opening match.”
