Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh today called upon the citizens of the State to make Yoga part of their daily routine. He was addressing as a chief guest a gathering of Yoga enthusiasts at the Indoor Stadium in the capital on the occasion of Fourth International Yoga Day. Dr. Raman Singh and Union Minister of State for Electricity (Independent charge) Mr. R .K. Singh along with 600 school children participated in the mass Yoga demonstration.

Chief Minister said that the practitioners of Yoga have supreme self-confidence, healthy body and increased memory. The monks of the yesteryears gave this legacy to the entire globe after experimenting for generations. The entire globe is showing keen interest in this tradition because of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s efforts. The United Nations declared 21st June as International Yoga Day and it had spread to most of the countries in the world. He congratulated Mr. Modi for this achievement.

It may be mentioned here that 50 lakh Yoga enthusiasts had participated in the International Yoga Day in the year 2017. The citizens of Chhattisgarh had broken their own record and today about one crore took part in the Yoga Day and entered the Golden Book of World Record. Dr. Raman Singh said that large number of students had participated in schools, colleges and villagers in 10 thousand Gram Panchayats. Yoga experts guided the people in several institutions and enterprises.

Mr. R. K. SIngh said that India had given the wisdom of Yoga to the entire world. It is ironical that Yoga was becoming extinct in the country of its origin. The efforts of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi had borne fruit and Yoga is being followed all over the globe as of now. Mr. Singh said other exercises do develop body but Yoga makes person healthy and develops personality. Yoga makes a person a better human being. It frees a practitioner of Yoga from fear, stress and anger and heralds peace. The Union Minister of State congratulated Chief Minister and the citizens of the State in establishing a new record on Yoga Day.

Chhattisgarh Yoga Commission Chairman Mr. Sanjay Agrawal, Chief Secretary Mr. Ajay Singh, Director General of police Mr. A. N. Upadhyaya,  Social Welfare Department Special Secretary Mr.  R. Prasanna,  Director of Social Welfare Department Mr. Sanjay Alang, Collector Mr. O. P. Chowdhary, senior officers and large number of students participated in the Yoga Day.

Golden Book of World Record representative Mr. Santosh Agrawal presented a provisional certificate of world record to Dr. Raman Singh. Attractive paintings drawn by differently-able children were presented to esteemed guests. The United Nations declared International Yoga Day on 11 December 2014.
