New Delhi : Income Tax Department has given new notices to Congress. In these, a tax demand of Rs 1745 crore has been made for 2014 to 2017. With these latest notices, the tax demand on Congress has increased to Rs 3567 crore.
Tax demand notices worth Rs 663 crore for 2014-15, Rs 664 crore for 2015-16 and Rs 417 crore for 2016-17 have been sent to Congress.
Congress had received a notice of Rs 1800 crore two days ago. Congress had received a notice from the Income Tax Department two days ago, i.e. on March 29 itself, on Friday. In which around Rs 1823 crore has been asked to be paid. This demand notice is for 2017-18 to 2020-21. This includes interest along with fine.
Tax department officials have already recovered Rs 135 crore from the party’s accounts for tax demands related to previous years. However, Congress has appealed against this in the Supreme Court, which can be heard today.
