IEEMA and IEEE sign MoU to foster capacity building &skill development of electrical engineers
INVC, Delhi, IEEMA and IEEE have entered into a memorandum of understanding to promote collaboration on various initiatives that include skill development and training in the electrical and electronics sectors, capacity building, research and publications and dissemination and enrichment of contemporaneous technical and technological knowledge amongst the electrical and electronics fraternity in India. The MoU will enhance sharing of knowledge and global experiences in key areas of electrical and electronics sectors, in addition to strengthening competencies and skill development of organisations, working professionals and students. It will also facilitate collaborative efforts amongst various stakeholders on emerging technologies including joint programmes for the benefit of the engineering community, and society at large, and pave the way towards enrichment of the electrical and electronics sectors in India. The Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA) is the apex association of manufacturers of electrical, industrial electronics and allied equipment in India. IEEMA has around 800 member organisations encompassing the complete value chain in power generation, transmission and distribution equipment, with membership base ranging from public sector enterprises, multinational companies to small, medium and large companies. IEEMA plays a crucial policy advocacy role with the government and its agencies and facilitates a robust two-way flow of customised and value added information between the government and the industry and sensitises its stakeholders on the future requirements for development of the power sector in the country.IEEMA members have contributed to more than 90% of the power equipment installed in India. The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)is the world’s largest engineering society with members in over 160 countries and focuses on advancing the theory and practice of electrical, electronics, and computer engineering, computer science, and related technologies. The IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) is a global standardization body within the IEEE comprised of individual and corporate members and other contributing technologists, who develop consensus-based electro-technical, electronic, information and communication technology standards affecting a broad market base. The IEEE-SA provides a standards programme that serves the global requirements of industry, government, and the public.
