Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today reviewed the progress of Theog-Kharapathar-Hatkoti (TKH) road after he performed the foundation stone laying ceremony of parking cum separate five storey National Highway office Block near the existing headquarters of PWD here today to cost Rs 10 crore.

In a brief meeting with PWD officials, Chief Minster directed the department to ensure that all the link roads and other alternate routes in the apple belt were well maintained to ensure smooth transportation of apples and also asked the department for regular monitoring of the work on the TKH road as directed in the meeting held on 18th May, 2015.

He directed to remove all the bottlenecks on the TKH road and said that the work should be completed on the project as soon as possible as this road was the priority of the State Government. Since many in opposition were playing politics of sorts on TKH road, my government intends that road should be completed without delay and I will personally monitor the progress work, said the Chief Minister.

He also directed to maintain all the roads whether State or National Highways or link roads in the State for smooth travelling and convenience of the people and tourists.

The Chief Minister was also briefed about the ongoing work of the PWD rest house near Barnes Court. The rest house was damaged due to heavy landslide and felling of trees during the last monsoon. On completion, the rest house would have 36 rooms with separate dormitories informed the Chief Architect N.K. Negi. The Chief Minister was also informed about the extension work and beautification of Rest house of PWD near Taradevi.

Engineer-in-Chief Naresh Sharma briefed the Chief Minister about the major works being carried out by the department and the new proposals in hand. He said that the E-in-C office of quality control and designs at US Club would be shifted after completion of the NH Block, the foundation stone of which was laid today. Chief Engineer, M.S.Thakur and other senior officers of the department were present on the occasion.

Later, a delegation of ‘Star overseas Group’ with members from Russia called upon the Chief Minister at his official residence and evinced keen interest in investing in Hydel Sector besides construction of Roads and Tunnels in the State.
