HS addresses a large gathering of students at the GMHS 26 (Police line)

INVC,, Chandigarh, Addressing a large gathering of students at the GMHS 26 (Police line) today, Secretary Education said that reading habit must be nurtured among children to enrich their knowledge. Newspapers play a pivotal role in sensitising youngsters about contemporary issues and developing their language skills while interacting with the students, the Secretary Education recalled how reading newspapers helped him in preparing for the civil service examination. Highlighting the relevance of the newspaper reading, he said that it facilitates in increasing awareness about a wide range of topics among the students and also in developing their creativity. The Education Secretary visited the 75th Government School to have interactive gupshup with the students on various issues such as civic sense, moral values etc. The Secretary Education also highlighted the importance of personal hygiene. He told students that its practice will serve to promote and preserve their own maintenance of health. He also encouraged good dental health and hygiene. Moral lessons were also taught to students. According to the HS, Moral lectures and stories help children to decide right from wrong. It is the best way to make them understand what their various duties towards their parents, grand parents, school teachers and friends are. Once they know all their duties it will be easy for them to abide by them to be able to lead a life full of principles. Besides discussions on topics like personal hygiene, fundamental rights, Common brotherhood, environment, the Secretary Education emphasized on preserving the Heritage of the city beautiful. He enlightened the students about the creation of Chandigarh by Le Corbusier. He added that city has very rich heritage and the tourists, architects and students from all across the globe visit the city to study its architecture. He directed the principal to immediately conduct an educational tour to the Open Hand Monument and the Capitol Complex consisting = of three main edifices, namely, the Secretariat, the Legislative Assembly and the High Court which has been designed by Le Corbusier. The HS also informed that city has also varieties of old trees which have their own status of Heritage and need to be protected by us. The students were taught about time management also. He asked students to make a daily  routine to schedule their everyday activities which includes study plan, playing time, watching TV etc to discipline their lives.
