 Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announced a bonanza of incentives for employees of the state roadways. The Chief Minister, who held a meeting with representatives of various unions of the employees of the Haryana Roadways here today, announced free travelling facility for the widows of the Haryana Roadways employees in the state roadways buses.He also announced to increase the night shift allowance of employees working in the workshops from Rs 18 to Rs 40 per night. Also, he announced to increase the shoe allowance from Rs 600 to Rs 1,000. Hooda also announced that on the death of Haryana Roadways employee engaged on contract basis, an ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh would be given as financial assistance. Apart from this, he also gave his approval for giving regular pay scale after a period of two years to the employees.Director General, Haryana Roadways, Arun Kumar apprised the Chief Minister that the number of buses in the fleet of the state roadways would be increased to 4,500 during this year.Arun Kumar said 3,750 conductors and 1,026 drivers had been recruited by the department. Apart from this, 1,513 vacancies of drivers and 636 of helpers had already been advertised. He said the process of recruitment of drivers would be completed by May, 2013, and subsequently in the three months time, recruitment of conductors would be finalised. He said as per the rule of the department, the drivers could be promoted to the post of Yard Master.On the issue of buses of Haryana Roadways being challaned in Delhi in an unauthorised manner, Hooda assured the Haryana Roadways Union that he would personally take up the matter with the Delhi Police. Hooda also directed the Transport Department to ensure minimum wages to data entry operators, sweepers, washing boys, chowkidar and gunmen engaged through the outsourcing policy of the state government.The Chief Minister also directed the officers concerned to explore the possibilities of providing housing facilities to the Haryana Roadways employees
