Home Secretary visits GMSH-16 and ISBT – 17

The Registration section of Sector 16 hospital was inspected by the Home Secretary with senior officers of Health Department, Engineering and Architect department. There has been remarkable decrease in the waiting time at the Registration counter due to increased number of computer terminals, increased speed of computers and other infrastructure facilities at a cost of Rs. 18 lacs. The patients and their attendants expressed satisfaction at the upgraded registration facilities at the hospital.

The Home Secretary took a round of the OPD areas and inspected the coupon system. He expressed dissatisfaction as at some OPDs where the coupons were not being issued to the patients. He issued strict directions to the concerned persons to make sure that every patient is issued coupon so that the patient does not have to wait for long for his turn. He also directed the Chief Engineer to provide pre-fab structure to accommodate the rush at one of the OPDs. The toilets were also inspected and the H.S. suggested certain improvements. He also inspected the maternity ward and found that the additional facilities for 32 beds has been created by the Engineering Department as per his direction during the earlier visit and the same would be functional within a week.

He also inspected the under construction OPD block and found that the work was going behind schedule. He asked the Chief Engineer to expedite the pace of work. The Chief Engineer informed that the work has been going at a slow pace due to the revised administrative approval pending at the level of Govt. of India. The Home Secretary informed that the matter is being taken up at the highest level and the administrative approval will be granted. He also directed the Chief Engineer to expedite the work for the construction of nurses hostel, the work for the construction of dispensary in the Industrial Area as well as Sector 22. He directed the Chief Architect to immediately prepare the drawings of racks for the Janaushdhi to be opened in various hospitals of the city so that the patients can get cheaper medicines.

The Home Secretary also inspected the ISBT Sector 17 and directed the Chief Engineer to rectify leakages in the toilets and also to repair the tile work at the booking counters due to faulty construction. He also directed the Director Transport to put those shops at auction which are lying closed. He also inspected the CITCO canteen and other eatables shops and directed Director Transport to ensure regular quality check up.
