Hindi Diwas to be Observed Today

Hindi was declared official language unanimously by the Constitutional Assembly on 14th September, 1949. Since then, every year 14th September is celebrated as Hindi Day in all Central Government Offices situated in India and abroad. On this occasion Hindi Day and Raj Bhasha award distribution function is being organized on 14th September, 2010 in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

At the function the Vice President will give away Rajeev Gandhi Gyan-Vigyan Maulik Pustak Lekhan Puraskar and Indira Gandhi Raj Bhasha Purskar 2008-09 for original book writing in Hindi and Indira Gandhi Raj Bhasha Purskar 2008-09 for excellent work done in Hindi in the Offices of the Central Government and public sector undertakings etc. and Grih Patrika Purskar for publications by Ministries/ Departments in 2009-10. On this occasion, 53 awards will be given away in the form of Shields / Certificates/ Cash.

The program being organized on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of the adoption of Hindi as Official Language by the Constitutional Assembly will help create an atmosphere for successful implementation of the official language policy of the Union.
