Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country, which is going to manufacture liquor from Mahua and sell it legally.
It has been named ‘Heritage Liquor’. The production of heritage liquor will start in the state in the month of October. The special thing is that the highest focus of the government is on the purity of heritage liquor.
Because the government is preparing to brand heritage liquor at the national and international level. The government believes that if heritage liquor is branded properly, then it can become a separate identity not only in the country but in the whole world.
Officials of the Commercial Tax Department say that a pilot project is being started in tribal-dominated Alirajpur and Dindori districts for the manufacture of heritage liquor. Here tribal self-help groups will manufacture heritage liquor.
Liquor manufacturing has been tested in Alirajpur. Liquor production will start here within a month. The process of setting up a production unit at Dindori is underway. Sources say that the government is preparing to give many concessions to liquor made from Mahua. Self-help groups producing liquor will not have to pay VAT for one year and will be exempted from excise duty for five years.
Along with this, liquor will be taken out from the ineligible list of the Industries Department, so that they can get grants under Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion. First of all, heritage liquor will be sold in the hotels and bars of the tourism department.
After the increase in production, heritage liquor is planned to be sold at liquor shops. At present, the price of heritage liquor has not been fixed.
The world’s only wine made from flowers
The heritage liquor will be made from Mahua flowers. Its biggest feature is that it is the only wine in the world, which is made from flowers.
It is manufactured in Madhya Pradesh alone in India. This alcohol does not contain methyl alcohol, which harms the body. All other types of alcohol contain methyl alcohol. No chemical will be used in the manufacture of heritage liquor made in MP. The water used for making wine shall be of high quality. Hygiene will be taken care of in the production unit of Heritage Liquor.
Every self-help group manufacturing heritage liquor will have to obtain a certificate from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. PLC/GT
