New Delhi  : Due to heavy rains in various parts, Northern Railway has taken the decision to cancel several trains for the safety and convenience of passengers. The cancellation of trains is a precautionary measure to avoid any potential risks and disruptions caused by the inclement weather conditions.

The canceled trains include the Firozpur Cantt Express, Amritsar Superfast Express, Chandigarh Intercity Express, and Chandigarh to Amritsar Junction Express. Passengers who had planned to travel on these trains are advised to make alternative arrangements or seek refunds as per the railway’s guidelines.

In addition to the canceled trains, Northern Railway has also diverted a number of trains to alternative routes to ensure smooth operation and avoid any major inconveniences to passengers. Trains that have been diverted include Mumbai Central to Amritsar Express, Amritsar Express, and Daulatpur Chowk Express.

The heavy rainfall in Delhi has resulted in water-logging at various locations, leading to the suspension of train services at four places. The affected railway lines include Nogaon (Ambala)-New Morinda, Nangal Dam-Anandpur Sahib, and Kiratpur Sahib-Bharatgarh. Northern Railway authorities are closely monitoring the situation and working to restore normalcy as soon as possible.

To address the issue of water-logging, eight pumps have been installed in the Delhi-Sabzi Mandi area and railway tracks to remove excess water and ensure the safe operation of train services in the Delhi area. As of now, train services in the Delhi area are operating normally, and passengers can proceed with their planned journeys without disruption.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that Delhi received a significant amount of rainfall, measuring 153 mm, in the last 24 hours until 8:30 am on Sunday. This amount of rainfall marks the highest recorded for a July day since 1982, highlighting the severity of the weather conditions and the need for precautionary measures.

Passengers are advised to stay updated with the latest information from Northern Railway regarding train schedules, cancellations, and diversions. They can also reach out to railway authorities or visit the official Northern Railway website for further assistance and guidance.

Northern Railway remains committed to ensuring passenger safety and providing a reliable and efficient rail service. Efforts are underway to address the challenges posed by the heavy rains and restore normal train operations as soon as the weather conditions improve and it is deemed safe to do so.
