Haryana Education Minister, Mrs. Geeta Bhukkal today urged the students not to indulge in the practice of ragging rather cooperate and guide the junior students so that they find it easier to get adjusted to the new environment. Bhukkal was addressing the students during Fresher’s Day-2013 celebrations organized by MCM DAV College for Women here today. The Minister said that Haryana Government has enforced anti ragging bill so as to prevent ragging in all educational institutions of the state. She exhorted the students to fix a target in life and scale new heights of success in the days to come. She also encouraged them to follow the footsteps of their alumni to further achieve laurels to themselves as well as for the college. While wishing the freshers a bright future, she said that they have now joined a very prestigious college, one of the best institutes of this region in the field of women education and empowerment. She said that apart from Government education institutes, DAV institutes are also playing a very important role in imparting quality education to the students. She also encouraged the students to work hard not only to achieve what they want to become in future but also to become good citizens. She said that Haryana Government under the able leadership of Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda is ensuring to develop the state as an educational hub of international standards. Describing India as a country of youth, she said that more than 60 per cent population of the country is young. We need to show them right path so that they could become responsible citizens and are able to meet the challenges when they join the mainstream of life, she added. Geeta Bhukkal said that educational institutes would have to shoulder a great responsibility to transform this young population into skilled manpower. Those present on this occasion included Regional Deputy Director General UIDAI, Mrs. Keshni Anand Arora, Principal of the College Mrs. Puneet Bedi, and Principals of other DAV institutes.
