Gurgaon gears up to revolutionize the fashion industry in India

Industry leaders from Fashion & Apparel sector came together under one roof in Gurgaon’s leading fashion institute, Institute of Apparel Management to discuss on the new innovations, techniques and workforce required to meet the need of this industry in the current digital scenario. The discussion was organized at Institute on Apparel Management on 2nd May, 2015 and witnessed fashion leaders like, Sh. Virender Uppal, Chairman, AEPC, IAM & ATDC, Dr. Darlie Koshy, DG & CEO, IAM & ATDC, Sh. Rahul Mehta, VC IAM, Sh. Somesh Singh Director IAM, Prof. Harish Choudhary, IIT Delhi, Dr. A. Sakthivel, etc were also part of the discussion.

New India is Bharat, and the brainchild of PM Modi’s ‘Digital India’ campaign. The primary agenda of the meeting was to highlight growing influence of E-commerce and M-commerce which debuted smartly on our imagination and has successfully embedded itself in mainstream fashion. When it comes to fashion, rules are made and limits are tested. Therefore, in tandem with the ‘Make-in-India’ motto, the discussions were set to cultivate skill sets to meet upcoming challenges on the home turf. It entails (i) new formats of e-tailing, (ii) presentation in virtual & digital world (iii) artificial intelligence (iv) new consumption patterns.

As IAM is bringing gen next program and to encourage conventional designers fashion students etc. aspirants IAM has decided to introduce special feature so that more migration can take place from physical skilled jobs to new virtual communities. AEPC will support such students merit cum scholarship basis and other such new ideas for students from NIFT NID and other needed students to join program says Mr. Virender Uppal Chairman, AEPC.
