Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Arun Kumar Grover today released Punjabi book “Punjabi Stagi Kavita: Chintan Te Chetna”. The book written by Dr. Amrit Rishma under the guidance of Dr. Jaspal Kaur Kaang, was released on the occasion of birth anniversary of noted Punjabi Litterateur Dr. Amarjit Singh Kang. The shining  star of Punjabi Literature of Dr. Amarjit Singh Kaang had promoted Punjabi language in big way in the state of Haryana. The author has described him as her source of inspiration for the book. The book is also dedicated to pioneer of Punjabi stage poet Sardar Ram Narain Singh Dardi. PU VC Prof. Grover congratulated Dr. Amrit Rishma for the work. The book refers to the pre-independence era, when the Punjabi poets used to recite their poems in public functions. The author says that Punjabi critics did not render justice to that tradition as they did not accept it as a rich tradition. Dr. Rishma said that those Punjabi poets were visionary and contributed a lot in mass awakening on social reforms and freedom struggle. The book has been published by Chetna Publications and its price is Rs. 300.  Advisor to Vice Chancellor Mr. R. L. Kapoor and many research scholars of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies were also present on the occasion.
