The sage had forgotten that he did not have to keep the Govardhan mountain somewhere, after some time the sage started lifting the mountain again, but Govardhan said that now the sage cannot go anywhere from here.

Then the sage got angry and cursed him that you did not allow my desire to be fulfilled. That is why from today you will be eroded by mole-til-mole.

Then one day you will be absorbed in the earth. Since then the Govardhan mountain has been engulfing the earth after mole-til-mole. It is said that by the end of Kali Yuga, this mountain will be absorbed into the earth. This time due to solar eclipse, Govardhan Puja is being celebrated all over the country on 26th October. The idol of Lord Shri Krishna should be kept near Govardhan mountain by making the shape of Gwal-Bal. On Govardhan Puja, Lord Krishna is offered wheat, rice, vegetables made of gram flour and leafy vegetables. Panchamrit made of curd, milk, honey, sugar, dry fruits and basil is offered to Lord Krishna. Annakoot vegetable prepared from many types of vegetables is also made for Lord Krishna.
