Dronachal became sad to hear this but Govardhan Parvat told the sage that I am ready to go with you but I have one condition. Where you put me, I will be established there.
Pulastya accepted this statement of Govardhan. Then Govardhan told the sage that I am two yojanas high and five yojanas wide. How will you take me to Kashi? Then Pulastya Rishi said that I will carry you with my tapobal on my palm. Then Govardhan Parvat agreed to accompany the sage.
Braj came on the way, seeing him, Govardhan started thinking that Lord Krishna and Radha will come here with Radha and do many pastimes of childhood and teenage. Then the thought came in his mind that he should stop here. Thinking this, the Govardhan mountain became more heavy in the hands of the sage Pulastya. Due to which the sage felt the need to rest. The sage started resting by keeping the Govardhan mountain in Braj. The sage had forgotten that he did not have to keep the Govardhan mountain somewhere, after some time the sage started lifting the mountain again, but Govardhan said that now the sage cannot go anywhere from here.
I already told you that where you put me, I will be established there. Then Pulastya insisted on taking him away, but Govardhan did not move from there. Then the sage got angry and cursed him that you did not allow my desire to be fulfilled. That is why from today you will be eroded by mole-til-mole.
Then one day you will be absorbed in the earth. Since then the Govardhan mountain has been engulfing the earth after mole-til-mole. It is said that by the end of Kali Yuga, this mountain will be absorbed into the earth. This time due to solar eclipse, Govardhan Puja is being celebrated all over the country on 26th October. After taking bath in the morning, making the shape of Govardhan mountain with cow dung. It should be decorated with flowers. The idol of Lord Shri Krishna should be kept near Govardhan mountain by making the shape of Gwal-Bal. At the time of Govardhan Puja, offer aarti to Lord Krishna with incense, lamp and offer Annakoot to him.
A different enthusiasm is seen among the people of Vrindavan, Mathura, Barsana, Gokul regarding Govardhan Puja. The auspicious time of Govardhan Puja will be from 6:29 am to 8:43 am on 26 October. Govardhan is worshiped on the day of Kartik Shukla Paksha Pratipada to show reverence to the cow. On Govardhan Puja, Lord Krishna is offered wheat, rice, vegetables made of gram flour and leafy vegetables. Panchamrit made of curd, milk, honey, sugar, dry fruits and basil is offered to Lord Krishna. Annakoot vegetable prepared from many types of vegetables is also made for Lord Krishna.
