A. P. Goyal University Shimla today organized an inter college debate on “Googlization : Thumbs up or Thumbs down” in which Swati Thakur of Centre of Excellence Sanjauli College bagged the first prize. Akash of AP Goyal University and Arpit Malhotra of Legal Studies of HPU wins second and third prize respectively. Shaifali Chauhan from HPU, Akhil of AP Goyal University and Ramesh Kumar of HP University won consolation prizes. As many as 45 participants from12 Colleges and universities of Shimla participated in the competition.
Director Information and Public Relations, Dr. M.P. Sood while presiding over the prize distribution function congratulated the contestants and said that major revolution has taken place worldwide in communication sector in past over one decade due to googlization. Its access was fast and uniform and has made the information available to all and the world has emerged as a global village. He said that it has brought massive change in the ideology and thought process of the people.
Dr. Sood urged the youth to use Google and other social sites for their personality development and to obtain important information. He also expressed his concerned over the excessive use of social sites by the youth. He said that it was vital to inculcate moral values in the youth for healthy society and teachers and parents can play an important role in this direction. He said that the youth needs to learn how to maintain a balance between the technology and social life. He said that the technology should be used for the betterment of the nation and society as a whole.
While appreciating the efforts of the University towards the vocational education Dr. Sood said that the university was also sharing its social responsibility. He said that the institution was providing platform to learn from individuals of different cultures and countries and simultaneously maintaining balance of academic and practical learning.
