Games promotes unity : Virbhadra Singh
INVC NEWS Shimla, Games are symbols of integrity and should be played with a true spirit so to inculcate harmony amongst each other, stated Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh just before the beginning of final cricket match between Governor XI and Board Chairman XI played at Bishop Cotton School here today. He said that the State Government was endeavoured to promote all types of sports including the rural games so that the players get an opportunity to excel themselves and represent the State at National and International level. He congratulated the participating teams and said that such types of activities provide a platform to show the talent and interact with each other. He also distributed prizes to the winning team and other participants of all the four teams. Earlier, Chief Minister was welcomed by President, H.P. Sports, Culture and Environment Association (HPSCEA) Shri Vikramaditya Singh who briefed about the itinerary of the tournament and also introduced the Chief Minister to the playing teams. He also presented a cheque of Rs. one lakh to the Chief Minister towards Chief Minister’s Relief Fund on behalf of the HPSCEA. The final match was won by Governor XI led by playing captain Additional Chief Secretary Tarun Shridhar. Ayurveda Minister Shri Karan Singh, Chief Secretary P. Mitra, Additional Chief Secretary V.C. Pharka, MLAs Ajay Mahajan, Sanjay Rattan, Pawan Kajal, Krinesh Jung, Manohar Dhiman, Chairman, Pollution Control Board Kuldeep Pathania were also present on the occasion among others.
