Gaiety marks Republic Day celebrations in Himachal Pradesh
INVC NEWS Shimla, 67th Republic Day was celebrated with gaiety and fervour across the State today. Functions were organized at State, District, and Sub-Divisional level to mark the occasion. Hoisting of Flags, impressive march-past, cultural programmes were highlights of the functions organized throughout the State. Governor Acharya Devvrat unfurled the National Flag and took the salute during a march past at the State-level Republic Day function held on the historic Ridge Maidan, Shimla. Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh, his wife and former MP Smt. Pratibha Singh, MLA Shri Mohan Lal Brakta, Deputy Chairman Planning Board Shri Gangu Ram Musafir, Chairman, H.P. Wool Federation Shri Raghubir Thakur, Vice Chairman, H.P. Forest Development Corporation Shri Kewal Singh Pathania, Mayor Shri Sanjay Chauhan, Deputy Mayor Shri Tikender Panwar, Chief Secretary Shri P. Mitra, DGP Shri Sanjay Kumar and senior military and civil officers and prominent persons of the town were among those present on the occasion. An impressive march past was presented by contingents of the Army, SSB, Police, ITBP, Home Guards, NCC, NSS and ex-servicemen. Captain Gaurav Kumar of Dogra Regiment commanded the parade. The tableaux exhibited by various departments were the main highlights of the function. Cultural programmes were presented by troupes from within and outside the state.
