Four years rigorous imprisonment with fine of rs.25 lakh to then director of telecommunication department in a disproportionate assets case
INVC NEWS New Delhi, The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Patiala House Courts, New Delhi has sentenced Shri Kailash Patil Aneja, then Director (ERU), Department of Telecommunication, Sanchar Bhawan, New Delhi (an officer of Indian Economic Service of 1981 batch) to undergo four years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.25 lakh and his wife Smt.Anita Aneja to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.One Lakh in Disproportionate Assets case. CBI had registered this case on 29.09.2005 against Shri K.P. Aneja, then Director (ERU), Department of Telecommunication, New Delhi. It was alleged that during the period from 1982 to 2005, the accused acquired assets in the form of shares, properties, gold etc. which were found to be disproportionate to the known sources of his income to the tune of 43% of his legal earnings i.e. Rs.24.45 Lakh(approx). After investigation, a chargesheet was filed on 20.12.2011 against the accused and his wife. During the trial, 69 witnesses were examined and a large number of documents were relied upon by the said Court. The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted them.
