FLO President, Vasvi Bharat Ram said, “Women definitely propel economic growth of a nation, with around 20% contribution to the GDP by women. Over the past few years, though India has seen strong policy focus on the empowerment of women and on women centric issues, we have a long way to go as far as the percentage of women leaders. This is the need of the hour. If we have to achieve a faster pace of growth rate – it is imperative to tap and converge the powerhouse that women are, by bringing them into the mainstream and giving them the leadership roles.”
Vasvi Bharatram further added, “Collective action and shared ownership for driving gender parity is what makes International Women's Day successful. I am sure all of us would agree that it is imperative to reflect upon the critical need for awareness amongst women of their rights and a proper nurturing of our minds towards what we have to accept or reject.”
“FLO truly recognizes that women are the critical mass that will transform politics, improve governance, and ensure inclusive and more socially sensitive development. We are aware of the fact that there is an enormous task ahead of all of us and as an organisation, FLO aspires to be a catalyst in propelling women towards her rightful place in society”, she added.
