Five years rigorous imprisonment with fine of rs.two lakhs to then chief general manager of ncl & secl in disproportionate assets case
INVC NEWS New Delhi, The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) has convicted Shri Ram Lakhan Rai, then General Manager & Chief General Manager, Northern Coalfields Ltd. & South Eastern Coalfields Ltd. and his son, Shri Ashok Rai in a disproportionate assets case and sentenced them to undergo five years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 2,00,000/- each. The disproportionate assets worth Rs. 1,11,75,451/- found during the trial is to be forfeited to the Govt. CBI had filed a chargesheet in the Court of Special Judge for CBI Cases, Jabalpur on 28.12.2006 against Shri R.L. Rai and his son, Shri Ashok Rai U/s 13 (2) r/w 13 (1) (e) of PC Act 1988 and 109 IPC alleging therein that the accused Shri R.L. Rai between the period 01.01.1996 to 29.09.2004, while functioning as GM & CGM in NCL & SECL had amassed wealth to the tune of Rs. 1,27,63,034/- (approx) in his name & in the names of his family members, which were disproportionate to his known sources of income. The Trial Court found both the accused guilty and convicted them.
