Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) maintained its growth and financial performance in the year 2009-10 despite the global meltdown and downturn witnessed in shipping and shipbuilding markets.
As per provisional unaudited results of the company the Shipbuilding income in 2009-10 was over Rs 1000 crores as compared to Rs 986 crores in 2008-09. The shiprepair income during the period was around Rs 230 crores as compared to Rs 270 crores in the previous year. The net profit for the year 2009-10 grew from Rs 161 crores in 2008-09 to over Rs 200 crores in 2009-10. The yard’s strategy to enter international shipbuilding market had helped the company to achieve unprecedented levels of performance in the past few years
