Farmers should not be misguided by anyone and should have faith in the government : Om Parkash Dhankar

Haryana Agriculture Minister, Om Parkash Dhankar INVC NEWSINVC, Karnal, Haryana Agriculture Minister, Mr. Om Parkash Dhankar today directed the officers to stop the procurement of paddy arriving from other states and if required then set up check posts in areas adjoining borders of the state. Mr Dhankar visited the Anaj Mandi of Karnal and redressed the grievances of farmers there.  He directed the officers to take concrete steps so as to facilitate the selling of paddy of the state within the state. Also, he directed the officers to carryout auction of paddy within the prescribed time period. No laxity in this regard would be tolerated, he added. Mr. Dhankar said that some shopkeepers used to sell boxes of medicines alongwith DAP manure which should not be practiced in future. Farmers should be given articles as per their need and requirement. Mr. Dhankar started the auction in his presence and said that there should not be any shortage of gunny bags. While interacting with farmers, he said that the present government would protect the interests of traders and farmers. He said that farmers should not be misguided by anyone and should have faith in the government. Earlier, Mr. Dhankar had a detailed discussion with rice traders and sought suggestions for providing maximum price to the farmers for their produce. The traders suggested the Minister that they should be provided rebate in tax on the pattern of Punjab and other border states and government should also take care of market fee only then farmers of the state would get better price for their produce. Mr. Dhankar made it clear that there is not restriction by Central Government on export of rice. He said that written communication is being carried out for resuming export of rice with Iran and other countries. He said that government, traders and farmers needs to work together in this era of competition so as to compete at international level.
