Establishment of small industries would provide employment opportunities to the local public : Ashok Gehlot
INVC, Jaipur, The Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot called on Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dr. M. Veerappa Moily in New Delhi on Thursday night and strongly urged for announcement of setting up long awaited refinery in Barmer District of Rajasthan without any further delay. Shri Gehlot went straightaway to the official residence of Dr. Moily after arriving in Delhi and discussed in detail in this regard. He added that Rajasthan was the largest state of India from geographical point of view and the setting up of refinery would accelerate the pace of socio-economic development of the state. Shri Gehlot told Dr. Moily that Rajasthan Government had paved green signal to provide every desired package for setting up the refinery in Barmer. He said that many oil companies were coming forward for setting up of refinery. He also informed that Rajasthan was the only state where there was no refinery inspite of huge oil productions fields. Shri Gehlot established the reasonability of setting up refinery in Barmer stating that Rajasthan was producing twenty percent of crude oil that was one fifth of the total production of country, hence it was desirable to set up refinery in Rajasthan. The Chief Minister said that the state was urging since long to establish refinery in Rajasthan. He had already requested Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Chairperson of UPA & National Advisory Council, Smt. Sonia Gandhi. Shri Moily himself principally agreed to the setting up of refinery as a viable project. He said that the huge oil fields had been discovered in Barmer and this region was producing 1.75 lacks to 2 lakh barrel crude oil per day. In short future production was likely to increase to by three lakh barrel per day. The Chief Minister said if the oil refinery was set up in Barmer, an investment of Rs. 35 to 40 thousand crore would be made in western Rajasthan and there were good possibilities that industries based on petroleum would flourish especially polymers and plastic industry. He said the establishment of small industries would provide employment opportunities to the local public.
