Interest in entrepreneurship is growing amongst city youth, observed Man Mohan Singh Kohli, Chairman, Chandigarh Council of CII.
Addressing the youth entrepreneurs at SPIC’s incubation centre, Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) at the Rajiv Gandhi Technology Park here today, he added that over the years the city has seen an evolution of a very supportive ecosystem with Department of IT, CII, and numerous other organizations and angel investors encouraging the youth to nurture their dream of being independent entrepreneurs.
In the interactive session organized today at EDC as a run up to the mega IT conclave, Destination IT@North today, Sameer Jain, CEO of Netsolutions, Vishal Chalana, Director of Winshuttle, and Deepak Chaudhary of a new startup at EDC, Credentia Business Processes, shared their entrepreneurship journeys and responded to the query of many young boys and girls from the local engineering colleges wishing to set up their own enterprise.
Vishal Chalana of Winshuttle advised the budding entrepreneurs to first understand the value which your product or service would deliver to the ultimate user and build your idea around it.
“A startup is a discovery process to find an idea that fulfils a need, is scalable, repeatable, and profitable,” Vishal Chalana said.
Sameer Jain said that every entrepreneur must go out and showcase and sell the idea to the maximum number of people, and adopt a lean approach to develop the prototype quickly and check out its utility.
Deepak Chaudhary, an auto engineer, who moved to EDC few months back and setup a KPO in the financial services space, felt that finding the right talent in Chandigarh is not a challenge at all since the students here are well informed, computer savvy, and full of fresh ideas, which is a great advantage for startups.
A third-year student of computer engineering from CCET, Deepak Sood, is already working on his product which he intends to take out to the market very soon, who found the interaction with some of the successful entrepreneurs very enriching and helpful whose mentorship he would seek in future too.
