K. Rahman Khan, Minister of Minority Affairs called a meeting today (5th April, 2013) of the Nodal Officers of various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India to review the implementation of Prime Minister’s New 15-Point Programme for the welfare of minorities and follow-up action on implementation of Sachar Committee recommendations. He stated that the Ministries implementing Prime Minister’s 15 point programme must monitor and ensure that the benefit of the programme reaches the real targeted population of minorities. Chairing meeting of the Nodal officers from various Ministries, Shri Rahman Khan said that progress reports from the implementation Ministries should match the ground realities. Saying that Ministry of Minority Affairs is mandated for implementation of the 15 point programme in respect of minority communities, he asked to fix physical and financial targets for Minorities in the beginning of the financial year.
Seeking cooperation and sincere efforts from the implementing Ministries the Minister outlined points of cooperation. These included collection of segregated community-wise statistics under 15 Point Programme, status of evaluation of 15 point programme component of the schemes by implementing Ministries, timely submission of the quarterly progress report by the Ministries, feedback on efforts made for creating awareness and publicizing achievement made by the Ministries, better attendance by the Nodal Officers from various Ministries and information regarding outlays / targets for 2013-14 and Action Plan to achieve these targets.
The issues of education, financial services, employment, housing and prevention of communal and targeted violence were deliberated in detail.
The Representatives /Nodal officers from 16 Ministries and Departments attended the meeting besides senior officers from the Ministry of Minority Affair
