Election Commission of India directed that the same team shall make its second visit to districts of West Bengal

INVC,, Delhi,, The terms of the existing Legislative Assemblies of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry are expiring in May-June, 2011. In view of this, the Commission had sent a team of 5 senior police officers headed by Chief Electoral Officer, Bihar to make an independent assessment of the law and order situation in West Bengal. Accordingly, the team visited different districts of West Bengal during mid-January and subsequently, briefed the Commission about their assessment. The Commission has today directed that the same team shall make its second visit to various districts of West Bengal to make current assessment of law and order situation. The team of five senior officers as Observer headed by Chief Electoral Officer, Bihar has been directed to proceed to the West Bengal so as to start visiting the districts 9th February, 2011 onwards.
