INVC NEWS New Delhi, The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Guwahati has convicted Sh. Tapan Kumar Hazarika, then Senior Assistant & Incharge of Pension, State Bank of India, Dhing Branch, District Nagaon (Assam) and sentenced him to undergo five years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 1.2 crore.CBI had registered the case on 04.01.2010 U/s 409, 477 A of IPC and Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c) & (d) of PC, Act, 1988 on a complaint against the accused. It was alleged that the accused had opened 10 fictitious SB accounts in the names of deceased pensioners & their family members and fraudulently credited undue pension in those accounts. Subsequently, the accused withdrew an amount of Rs. 95,99,144/- (approx.) through different modes and caused loss to the Bank. After completion of investigation, CBI filed a chargesheet on 14.07.2011 in the Designated Court. The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
