Dental check up, self defence training< street play and festivities mark international women's day
Women in East Delhi got together To mark the International Women's day today on March 8, at Arya Samaj Mandir in Vivek Vihar . The lively sensitizted programme was organised by Women's Non Government Organisation (NGO) Pragati Mahila Association of East Delhi in a traditional way.
About 150 women from various parts of East Delhi participated in the International Women's Day (IWD) , the global day connecting all women around the world and inspiring them to achieve their full potential.
Major highlight of the Women's day was talk on Dental hygiene by Eminent dental surgeon Dr Meera Verma and Dr Neena Moitra, coupled with free dental check up and Nukkad natak on oral hygiene,, Self defence training by Delhi police, dance and singing.
" There is need to generate awareness among women about globalization and technology, which has been providing them new opportunities to make them economically empowered. This day is celebrated to call attention to women's issues an appeal for change" said Mrs Usha Kiran .
" Seeing the contribution of women in economy , family, nation building and politics , for women in India every day is a women's day" said Mrs Ritu Bhatia of Mahila Pragatisheel. Family counseling, Bhajan's, dance and songs by women were major highlight of the women's day function in Vivek Vihar.
