Solan : The tranquil district of Solan in Himachal Pradesh was recently stirred by an unforeseen incident at a local rehabilitation center. Thirteen young women, in a daring escape, slipped away into the night, leaving the center in a state of sudden disarray. This center, situated in the quaint town of Parwanoo, is known for its efforts in aiding those grappling with addiction. The disappearance of these women set off a flurry of activity, sparking an extensive search operation in the nearby wilderness.

Remarkably, due to the swift and coordinated efforts of the center’s staff and local police, the rescue operation was a success. The women were found and safely returned to the center, although no formal charges have been filed in relation to the incident.

This center in Parwanoo, specifically located in the village of Khadreen, is known to house a total of 17 young women undergoing treatment. The incident occurred late on a Saturday night when the escapees broke a window to flee. This event has once again raised critical questions about the operational effectiveness of such rehabilitation centers.

Most of the residents at this center are from Punjab and Haryana. Interestingly, the influx of individuals seeking rehabilitation in Himachal Pradesh has increased, especially following restrictions on such centers in Punjab. Since their inception in Himachal Pradesh, these centers have been marred by various incidents, including violence and substance abuse. In one alarming instance, a patient’s death at the Parwanoo center led to its temporary closure. Furthermore, a recent scandal involving substance abuse at another center, which came to light through a viral video, resulted in a directive for its shutdown.
