Dr. P. K. Mishra inaugurated the NDMA pavilion at India International Trade Fair 2015
INVC NEWS New Delhi, Dr. P. K, Mishra, Additional Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister inaugurated the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) pavilion at India International Trade Fair, 2015 here today. The NDMA, along with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) participated with the aim to spread awareness amongst general public, students and various stakeholders on disaster management and risk reduction. The NDMA pavilion has been put up for the above purpose for joint display of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials. NDMA is displaying 12 panels with safety message of disaster preparedness and mitigation with respect to earthquakes, cyclones, flooding, landslides, fires, chemical emergencies and industrial disasters. NDRF is displaying around 7 Panels which showcase the contribution of NDRF towards capacity enhancement of local communities, disaster response forces, school staff and students as well as the rescue and response support rendered by them in the aftermath of Nepal Earthquake-April 2015 and Gujarat Floods-June 2015. The IEC materials on display by NIDM reflect the efforts made by the institution in imparting training to various stakeholders in disaster management. In addition to this, NDMA is also hosting a Quiz and Drawing Competition specifically to engage and sensitize children. One of the important features of the display includes demonstration of a ground shaking scenario simulating earthquake. Shri L. C. Goyal, CMD, India Trade Promotion Organisation, Shri O. P. Singh, DG, NDRF, Shri R. K. Jain, Member Secretary, NDMA, members of NDMA and senior officials of MHA were also present.
